Ants, Figs, Fig waps: the Chemical Ecology of a Multitrophic System
I am interested in visualization and statistical analyses of large data sets. When not swimming in numbers, I like walking through forest trails and city scapes. I also enjoy sci-fi literature and films. I accidentally discovered my likeness for techno!
My doctoral thesis was focused on understanding the chemical communication between members of a multitrophic system, with Ficus racemosa and it associated insect community of fig wasps and ants as the study system.
My contribution was the use of a machine learning algorithm, namely Random Forests to identify potential signals involved in the species-specific chemical communication in F. racemosa between the figs and fig wasps.
